Senescent-Cell Research
FOXO4-DRI is studied as an experimental senolytic peptide. In preclinical cell models, it has been shown to compete with FOXO4 for p53 binding, promoting p53 relocation from the nucleus and activating apoptosis-associated pathways in certain senescent cells.
These findings are model-dependent and should not be interpreted as evidence that FOXO4-DRI targets every type of senescent cell.
FOXO4–p53 Interaction
FOXO4 is a transcription factor involved in cellular stress responses, homeostasis and cell-fate regulation. In the investigated senescent-cell models, FOXO4 helped retain p53 within the nucleus. FOXO4-DRI was designed to interfere with this interaction and release p53 from these nuclear complexes.
